SOAR TO NEW HEIGHTS WITH OUR MICROSHCOOL & LEARNING PODS

Soaring Learners Microschool✈️

What is a ‘microschool’?

A ‘microschool’ is a small-group learning pod dedicated to engaging and supporting every student—right where he or she is! At Soaring Learners LLC, we’re all about supporting homeschooling families or those looking for an alternative to the traditional classroom experience.

Our program blends strong academics with social-emotional development, creativity, and real-world connection in a community-centered environment.

What is a ‘learning pod’?

Our ‘learning pods’ are sub-groups of our main microschool program that allow our students to learn in peer groups that are aligned to their academic level, age, and/or learning goal(s).

Rather than grouping students strictly by age or grade in our microschool, we use a skill-based, readiness-focused approach. Students are placed in learning pods based on a combination of academic skill level, learning style, independence, and social-emotional readiness. Suggested grade ranges are provided as a general guide, but final placement decisions are made collaboratively with families to ensure each learner is set up for success.

Please note: Because we are a small, relationship-centered microschool, we are able to offer individualized attention within our pod structure. However, we are not a special education school and do not have the staffing, training, or resources to support all high-level or specialized needs. In order to maintain a healthy learning environment for all students, we can only accept a limited number of learners who require higher levels of support, and only in cases where their needs can be successfully met within our current structure. We are always happy to meet with families to discuss individual needs and determine together whether Soaring Learners is the right fit.

Our Learning Pod Structure:

Launch Pad (typically K–3)
This pod is for learners building school routines, foundational academic skills, and confidence! We focus on early literacy and math, social-emotional learning, and hands-on exploration with consistent teacher guidance.

Flight School (typically grades 3–6)
This pod is for learners who are ready to build more independence around academics! Students will engage in deeper reading and writing, mastery-based math, interdisciplinary projects, and increased self-responsibility.

Navigator’s Nook (future program)
This pod is for learners who are ready to take flight on their own! This program will focus on independent study, research, critical thinking, and executive functioning skills as we grow!

  • English and Language Arts: We’re all about the foundations (building life-long skills) and advancing our students’ literacy skills. Students in our microschool will participate in guided and independent reading, comprehension and fluency-focused activities, writing (narrative, descriptive, persuasive and expository), novel studies, and building analytical and critical-thinking skills. . . and much more!

  • Mathematics: Through our robust and nature-based curriculum, Wild Learning Math, our students connect to essential math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, money management, budgeting, time-telling, etc.) through hands-on exploration, movement, and real-world problem solving. Students will develop curiosity and a connection to math in their daily lives.

  • Science: Our biggest goal with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) is to engage our students in dynamic, hands-on projects and activities that encourage experimentation and problem-solving. Students will build simple machines, conduct experiments, explore environmental topics, and more, all while learning concepts, developing higher-level thinking, and connecting the lessons to real-world scenarios.

The Soaring Learners Tutoring, LLC Microschool aims to provide a comprehensive educational experience that prepares students for future academic and personal success! For a complete list of curriculum and programs, please contact us.

Homework Note: Our programming does not include homework as we believe learning should be in-class and with teacher support. If a family is interested in out-of-class work, they can contact us for specific arrangements/options!
